About Us

Hello!

I'm Gemma, the face behind The Copper Kitchen.

Originally a secondary school hospitality and catering teacher, I decided to take the plunge and start the business in July 2019. It has been a rollercoaster journey learning everything from website design, social media, business and photography skills but I am proud of where we are today!

The last few months have been really exciting with a house move and developing 'The Annex' - my very own cake studio

We truly are a family business; Mr Copper Kitchen helps with the technical side of the business, Papa Copper Kitchen helps with deliveries and Mama Copper Kitchen works behind the scenes on anything from preparing packaging to ironing the many vintage tablecloths we use!

Baking and hospitality is in my DNA; my great grandfather owned a bakery in London with my great grandmother running the tea room within the shop. My dad's cousin also owned a bakery in Northampton so baking really is in all generations. The essence of the business name 'The Copper Kitchen' comes from my grandad whose nickname was 'Copper Kettle'.

I love helping to create memories from making cakes and catering from events. It is always an honour to have a little part in someone's special occasion.

“Alone we can only do so little: together we can do so much”

I met Amy from 'Amy’s Vintage Teas' over 2 years ago and began supplying her with sweet and savoury bakes for tea parties. It soon became clear that both Amy and myself were on a very similar business journey and share the same drive, passion and creativity in our work.

We are really excited to work in partnership together for events whether it is an afternoon tea, dessert table or corporate order
